Philippine Senate Idol 2010: TOP TWELVE!

Who Are Your

After the Comedy of Horrors this week at the 14th Congress,

Manny "Crouching Candidate, Hidden Senator" Villar's
Nene "insertion" Pimentel and Alan Peter "saling pusa" Cayetano,

Our votes are more important than ever, and
if we don't want a repeat of this week's travesty,
we should take long, hard looks at all the candidates,

starting with:

Why is Gibo Teodoro,
GMA's wonder boy,
campaigning with, and for,
Bong Revilla and Lito Lapid?

Maybe he knows something we don't?
Hmmm, talagang maGALING at maTALINO si Gibo,
so maybe we should vote for his Lakas-Kampi Action Stars...

Too bad,
my #1 Person Who Should Be Senator
decided not to run, but if she had...

♥ Winnie Monsod, I'd vote for you 12 times! ♥

But since you're not, Ma'am, here's my Top Twelve:

and please,

don't hate me...

STEVE JOBS does it again with the "iPad"!!!

full disclosure:

I am a Steve Jobs/Apple groupie,
and although this is NOT a paid ad,
it might as well be: the iPad is iMazing!

♥ ♥ ♥ iPad ♥ ♥ ♥

once again surprises the world
with the only device that's hotter
than an iPhone and and iPod!!!

The Biggest Surprise?
It starts at only $499.00!!!

"One of the first things you’ll notice about the iPad
is how thin and light it is.

The screen is 9.7 inches, measured diagonally.
So overall, it’s slightly smaller than a magazine.

And at just 1.5 lbs and 0.5 inches thin,
it’s easy to carry and use anywhere.

There’s also a slight curve to the back.
Which makes it easy to pick up and comfortable to hold."

"Read all your iBooks:

You’ll be able to buy everything from classics to bestsellers
from the built-in iBookstore.

Once you’ve bought a book, it’s displayed on your Bookshelf.
To read it, all you have to do is tap on it and it opens up.

The high-resolution, LED-backlit screen displays everything
in sharp, rich, color, so it’s very easy to read, even in low light."

"Listen to all your iTunes:

"With the iPod app, all your music is literally at your fingertips.
You can browse by album, song, artist, or genre, with a simple flick.

To play a song, just tap it, and the now playing screen
will show the album art at full size.

Then you can listen to your music with the powerful built-in speaker."

"You can even use your iPad as a beautiful digital photo frame
while your iPad is docked or charging."

"iPad is an extraordinary way to enjoy and share your photos.

The new Photos app displays the photos in an album
as though they were in a stack. Just tap or pinch to open the stack,
and the whole album opens up.

Then you can flip through your pictures,
zoom in or out, or watch a slideshow..."

"See and touch your email in ways you never could before.

In landscape, you get a split-screen view,
showing both an opened email and the messages in your Inbox.

To see the opened email by itself, you just turn iPad to portrait,
and the email automatically rotates and fills the screen.

No matter which orientation you use,
you can scroll through your mail, compose a new email
using the large, on-screen keyboard, or delete messages,
with nothing more than a tap and a flick.

If someone emails you a photo,
you can see it right in the message."

"The large Multi-Touch screen on iPad
lets you see web pages as they were meant to be seen —
one whole page at a time. With vibrant color and sharp text.

So whether you’re looking at a page in portrait or landscape,
you can see everything at a size that’s actually readable.

The YouTube app organizes videos
so they’re really easy to see and navigate.

To watch one, you just tap it.
When you’re watching in landscape,
the video will automatically play in full screen.

And with its high-resolution display,
the latest YouTube HD videos will look amazing on iPad."

"There’s even an iPad Case that not only protects it,
it also allows you to use iPad in various positions,
to make it easy to type, look at photos, or watch movies."

"The large, high-resolution screen makes iPad perfect
for watching any kind of video:
from HD movies and TV shows, to podcasts and music videos.

You can also easily move between wide-screen and full-screen
with a double-tap.

And because it’s essentially one big screen,
with no buttons or anything to distract you,
the picture fills your line of sight.
So you feel completely immersed in what you’re watching.

And through a range of accessories,
iPad can output to TVs, projectors and displays.

The powerful, built-in speaker produces a full, rich sound.
Which makes watching a movie or listening to music even better.

It also comes with a headphone jack and a built-in microphone.

And finally:

it has a 10-hour battery life —
with a month of standby time."

UP IN THE AIR : one of the Best Movies of 2009

An intelligent screenplay that crackles off the screen,
genuine sexual tension between the lead actors,
a plot that's almost too painfully relevant,

at the film's core,
a True Romance.

It's almost like an update of another favorite film of mine;

a bittersweet, grayer version of another character
who was forever running around airports and
forever attached to his cellphone:

Jerry Maguire!!!

And speaking of painfully relevant...

I really should spend more time on the ground,
in one place; with all my frequent flying,

I can already relate waaay too much with the ups and downs
and romantic travails of George Clooney's Ryan Bingham role!!!

Finally, Authentic FISH & CHIPS Arrive in Manila!!!

Ever since I found out that the fave food
of the Fab Four was Fish & Chips...

I resolved to nosh on this classic
#1 English fast food at the source;

and I was fortunate enough to take a trip
to the U.K. a decade ago, and the first meal
I had, not surprisingly, was Fish and Chips!!!

It was love at first bite:

the crunchy beer batter, the oily-salty chips (french fries),
the creamy, flaky haddock fillets, all wrapped in newspaper.

I've been lucky; through my travels,
I've visited former colonies of the British Empire;
and it makes sense to me that they know how to do F&C right.

And so, from Australia to Singapore and most recently, Canada,

the first thing I look for,
is, always,
a sign for

For a long time,
in our beloved Pilipinas,

which was only under British Rule for only a couple of years
authentic Fish and Chips were nowhere to be found.

Most restaurants would serve versions that tasted like tempura,
and instead of malt vinegar, horrible versions of tartar sauce.

That is,
until a few months ago...

Take my word for it,

in the Philippines, are at the MoMo Cafés!!!

I'm Chuffed ",)

MoMo Café
Robinson's Place Manila
Manila Midtown Wing
tel: 567-3417

MoMo Café
G/F Eastwood Mall,
Libis QC
tel: 900-1006

No Reservations are accepted during weekends;
why? I don't know, something fishy there... ><((((o>
so come in early, specially for Sunday Dinner!

ask your server not to slather the tartar sauce on the fish!

1st Look : AVATAR, The Sequel!!!

Apparently, James Cameron wants to lighten the tone
for our next journey in the world of the NA'VI...

in our non-virtual world of humans:

"It's no surprise Avatar won its sixth weekend in a row
becoming the first film to manage that feat
since James Cameron's last film, TITANIC,
did it in the 1997-98 frame.

It will overtake The Dark Knight
as the #2 domestic release of all-time
this weekend as well as eclipse Titanic
as the foreign box-office king of the world."

And yes,
there will be a PINOY AVATAR in the sequel!!!

25 January 10: Happy Birthday, CORY!!!

Feel free to grab this picture
and make it your profile photo on Facebook
(or Friendster. hahaha!)

this whole week, to honor the lady
who brought back democracy to our country,

President Corazon C. Aquino!
