To SIN Again
for his recommendation as to
the best supermarket to visit
to get a feel of Singapore,
he directed me to this sprawling store on Orchard Road,
where Pinoys actually go to buy pasalubong:
After wandering around the aisles and gondolas for an hour,
I succeeded in finding certain ingredients essential
for recreating my Singarpore food trips;
KAYA & BLACK PEPPER!
Sunday's SPICY Dinner: Black Pepper Crabs!
Sunday's SWEET Dessert: Kaya on Buttered Toast!
n.b.
"KAYA" is a lighter, creamier, more spreadable,
less tooth-numbingly sweet version
of the Philippines' Coco Jam.
It is best served on triangles of dark toast
slathered with butter, & topped with the Kaya!
There are lots of different brands and flavors,
but the best is considered to be that of TOAST BOX,
which, incidentally, recently opened its 1st branch
in the Philippines, somewhere in TriNoMa.
Toast Box
is a sister establishment of the bakery famous for Fire Floss,
Bread Talk!
