So Bloody Good, It Kicks JACK BAUER's Ass!!!

No Thanks
to the Writers Guild of America's strike,
the new season of "24"
has been cancelled for this current TV season,

and Jack Bauer's 7th Day will have to start
(hopefully) sometime in January 2009.

Which means that avid fans of anti-terrorism,
butt-kicking, espionage & intrigue, and all-out action
will have to wait for more than a year before
they can get their fix...

they watch this:

This BBC series is the UK's version of "24",
focusing on Britain's real-life CTU,
the MI-5, whose agents seem ghost-like,
always in the shadows, hence the term "spooks".

I'm not sure if it's the 007 accents,
and how they seem to work to perfection in this genre,

but this show is so much better than "24":
so damn gut-wrenching,
so appallingly violent,
so bloody intense,
so British!

The show is called "SPOOKS" in the UK,
but when it crossed the pond to the US,
it had to be changed to "MI-5",
lest the Americans mistake it
for some sort of X-Files type series.

Season 1 of SPOOKS/MI-5 is only 6-episodes long,
but that cliffhanger in the final episode
has got more suspense than all 6 seasons of "24"

It's probably one of the best hours of television
you'll ever see.

So the question is,
where to get the DVDs or DiBiDis?

You can wander around Quiapo
and find the complete box sets,
all the way up to Season 3,

or you can go off the grid
and e-mail my main man Jumbo at
and stealthily order Seasons 1 & 2.

Just tell him Agent Spanky sent you.

This looks really interesting. Something Liv and I could watch in a looonnggg DVD session. =)

The girl in the picture does remind me of Agent Scully.

Thanks for the tip!

another fine fact about SPOOKS,
each episode is a hefty 56 minutes long,

none of that wimpy 42min. episodes of US TV series.

tell me if you have a difficult time sourcing the dibidis, i can just lend you my Seasons 1-3.
