As much as we all want to hate the megakilo, her editor is to blame. I mean the editor did allow this substandard article to actually get published. I was trying to be objective- maybe she's just very insular in her high society world, that maybe her witty writing can save her... NOT! It really wasn't smart or witty. I know Jessica Zafra is angry all the time- maybe she may be a bitch.. BUT she writes well. Hell I remember her bitchy comments and I like her smart bitchiness.
I consider myself an OFW - even if I have an expat package. When I join my kababayans back to Manila, I can't help but feel very touched with the warmth of these people. They, ok WE, are the people that help keep our economy afloat. It's sad to think that she feels her writing is humorous. She thinks being with a group of OFWs on a plane is God sentencing her to her own private hell? What if her seatmate thought that she/he was in her/his own hell beside a person who had to get an extension seatbelt? Maybe they were bothered with her flab overflowing to the arm rest... or did she have to lift her armrest for more room? The last time I rode emirates I was very comfortable in my spacious seat. Oh- my hips are still 34.. sorry Malu...
And what's with this name dropping of brands? Is she so insecure she has to announce whatever she's wearing? I had Jo Malone stuff- candles and cologne... 5 years ago!!!! And I never announced it till now.
I pity Discovery shores- it kinda put them in a bad light. And her friends- Cricket Tantoco and Maricris Alvarez. They were dragged into her mess too. Maybe they may think like her but I am sure they wouldn't have published themselves the way she did.
Maybe she likes this attention. Maybe she wants to be the middle-aged fat Paris Hilton- any publicity is good publicity.
I have a lot to say- but I'm sure a lot of people have said it.
Good luck self proclaimed FATshionista. I know why you want to stay in an aircon room all the time. You don't want that fat sweaty oily smell to be found out- so you need that Jo Malone cologne.

Malu has a lot of insecurities. She's never been pretty in her whole life coz she's always been obese, that is why she needs to do this hostile exercise of self-perceived "acerbic wit" to feel even a slight slice of happiness. I really pity this woman since I'm sure all this outpouring of negative energy is causing her sleepless nights even if she's (un)comfortably resting on her expensive mattress and Ralph Lauren sheets.
Malu, look on the bright side: since I'm sure you're having a hard time sleeping and eating, you'll definitely lose some excess flesh. You can save on diet pills and the next time yo fly, you can afford first class. And since you've lost weight, you'll never get bruised from sitting on the tiny seats! Always look on the bright side, gurl!

I agree with valerie p. I suspect the article was meant to be tongue-in-cheek. All the same, the hate spewed by the bloggers in this site is even more shameful. Lighten up kids. Nothing written was false, and we are all entitled to our own opinions. She makes fun of others as well as herself - no different than David Letterman makes fun of the American middle class. Let's face it, many of what she comments on is nothing new. Now who is the hypocrite?
