Deep Fried COKE!!!

Everything's BIG in TEXAS.
Big Sky Country, Big Ranches, Big Appetites.

And these all come together in the annual
State Fair of Texas.


Each year,
tens of thousands visit to partake and enjoy
all things cowboy, all things excessive,
and all things FRIED!!!

One of the most popular attractions is
Big Tex's Choice Awards,
for the newest gut-busting, artery clogging concoctions,
as only Texans can invent.

This year,
DEEP FRIED COKE was The Real Thing.




The State Fair was the birthplace of the CORN DOG,
a.k.a. the Waffle Dog in these here parts...

Over the past two years~~
Deep Fried Peanut Butter Sandwiches,
Deep Fried Marshmallow on a Stick,
and Deep Fried Pralines have won awards,

but none has captured the imagination
like Deep Fried Coke!!!





It's pretty simple to make,
if you have access to Coca-Cola Syrup.

In Manila,
I'd wager that one can easily get this nectar
as post-mix syrup, such as you find in fast food restos.




Just make a simple dough (a cake donut recipe perhaps?),
add Coke syrup to taste,

form into munchkin-size balls,
deep fry the bad boys,

generously top with whipped cream,
sprinkle with cinnamon sugar,
and anoint the whole shebang with a maraschino cherry!

Oh, and while you're at it,
pour just a little bit more Coke syrup on it, okay?


I can't wait to try this.

If anyone out there knows
where I can get some Coca-Cola syrup,
I promise to whip up a batch for you.
