RAY-BANgaw : Aviator Shades are back!!!
After TOP GUN was shown in the Philippines in late-1986,
I was among thousands of impressionable post-EDSA teens
who dumped our Wayfarers
and bugged our parents to get us AVIATOR SUNGLASSES.
I was ecstatic when I received the shades below
from my Tita Rosel in San Francisco;
not only was it totally Top Gun,
it was also from GUESS!,
the hippest brand at that time.
This is the only pair of sunglasses of mine
that I never lost, sat on accidentally,
or managed to have stolen from me.
The scratches you see are authentic souvenirs
of the 1st anniversary of EDSA I,
exactly 20 years ago this week;
I dropped the shades several times
while rocking and dancing to the music
of the bands that played during the free concert
at the corner of EDSA and Ortigas
on the night of February 25, 1987.
Imagine my surprise when I had an emergency sunglass need

last week and rushed to the i2i stall in Greenbelt I:
my beloved BANGAW shades were back!!!
and apparently,
they're back in fashion as well.
I FEEL THE NEED....
