The Japanese GHOST HOUSE

Wandering along the dark recesses of a deserted courtyard,
I came across this atmospheric doorway,
lit by a paper lamp with a vaguely sinister yellow glow,
with calligraphy that reads:
"Abandon hope, all ye who enter here."

As I ventured inside,
I was welcomed by this apparition,
straight out of RINGU and JU-ON,
and I realized that I had unwittingly walked into a Ghost House.

As long as your date doesn't look like the White Lady above,
then you ought to have a great time at the newest (& quaintest)
little restaurant in LITTLE TOKYO!

I have no idea what the Japanese name of the joint is,
nor do I know what the calligraphy really reads,

but since Ema,
the grillhouse's head waitress,
told me that it's meant to look like a Japanese Ghost House,
then that's what I'll call it.

Thankfully,
I've yet to go on a Blind Date with someone
violently blinded like the lady above,
although admittedly maraming beses na akong nabulag.
hehehe!

If there's one thing I've learned about dating,
(no matter how bad your chemistry is,
no matter how unattracted you are to each other)

it's this:

Always be polite,
remember to act like a Gentleman,
and make the most out of a potentially bad situation.

Which is exactly why this Japanese Ghost House
just might help salvage a blind date;

if not for anything else,
you and your date can:

1. admire the creepy bric-a-brac,
so much more interesting than TGIFriday's.

2. read volumes of MANGA comics.

3. try all the six flavors of CHU-HI,
the addicting Japanese Alco-Pop drinks.

4. channel your inner Bobby Flay,
and grill delicious Yakiniku barbecues.

The prices in this haunted house are not so scary.

You may get one of the Yakiniku combinations:

for P980.00,
you get 4 generous platters of marinated Beef & Pork slices,
appetizers, salad, and Japanese rice.

The Sam Gyup Sal-type sliced pork belly is excellent,
and since the restaurant has excellent ventilation fans
and those new hi-tech grills with water reservoirs,
the melted fat doesn't sizzle endlessly on the grill,
minimizing the high levels of smoke common in Jap/Kor BBQ places.

But the BEST thing about the Ghost House
(for now anyway...)

are the 100% ABSOLUTELY FREE BEER TICKETS!

This is part of the restaurant's Grand Opening Promotion,
and if the Anime-looking owners don't find you too shocking,
(check out the blonde dude below)
they'll give you practically all-you-can-drink free beer!

(note:
the freebies are pints of SMB Pale Pilsen Draft;
we had 20 glasses, didn't pay for a single drop!)

So are you brave enough to venture into the unknown?
Take a chance and visit the Ghost House...
