ETHAN HUNT is JERRY MAGUIRE

It's just too bad that too many people
(myself included)
got distracted and turned off
by Tom Cruise's Wacko Jacko-like shenanigans
with Oprah, Brooke Shields, Scientology, & Suri,
and figured that M:i:III must be really crappy
to need that kind of publicity to sell the film.

I finally watched the movie on DVD yesterday,
and...

Well, Believe the Blurb
on the DVD cover above!!!

Mission:Impossible:III
really is Da Best of the franchise.
Too bad, it might be the last too.

If YOU haven't seen it yet,
rush on down to your favorite Dibidi, Dibidi stall,
bring your P40.00, and get ready to be blown away!!

SPANX' TOP 10 REASONS TO WATCH M:i:III

10. This is JJ ABRAMS 1st Film
> the genius behind Felicity, Alias, and LOST
proves that he's equally adept on the Big Screen

9. The CAMERON CROWE Connection
> Billy Crudup, anti-hero of that other great Crowe film,
ALMOST FAMOUS, plays Hunt's IMF handler.

8. Secret Agent FELICITY
> Keri Russell, one of the prettiest faces in Hollywood,
who seemed lost after the cancellation of her series,
acquits herself well as a female action star.
Her final scene is unforgettably tragic and chilling.

7. The ARNIS Session
> Mabuhay ang Martial Arts ng Pilipinas!!!

6. PHILLIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN is Evil Incarnate
> Fresh off his Best Actor Oscar for CAPOTE,
Hoffman turns in a supervillain performance
that would make Hannibal Lecter proud.
> yup, this greatest of actors also appeared
in Almost Famous. The Crowe Connection continues....

5. Leitmotifs from LOST
> Listen to the score right during the final action scene.
JJ Abram's synchronicity soundtrack is so sneaky....
you almost expect to see Locke skulking around Shanghai!

> Remember this creepy guy from Season 1?
The actor's name is William Mapother,
and he's Tom Cruise's 1st Cousin.

The name of the character he played in Lost?
ETHAN (!)

4. More of those COOL RUBBER FACE MASKS
> a tradition dating back to the original
Mission:Impossible TV Series. Excellent!

3. MICHELLE MONAGHAN : schwinggg!!!
> I fell in love with her femme fatale
in KISS KISS, BANG BANG:
an underrated, overlooked Film Noir homage,
one of the best films of 2005.

And Ethan Hunt's wife works as a Nurse.
I Love Nurses!!!

2. Temporary Insanity aside,
TOM CRUISE is still TOM CRUISE
> He still is the Biggest Movie Star in the World.
Tom Hanks & P.R. trainwreck Mel Gibson come close,
and George Clooney & Brad Pitt are NextGen,
but Cruise still rules the International Box Office.
> M:i:III collected nearly half a billion $$$ worldwide.

1.ETHAN HUNT is JERRY MAGUIRE
> after the shocking opening sequence,
M:i:III segues into a scene of Domestic Bliss
straight out of my favorite movie ever
Cameron Crowe's Oscar Winner, Jerry Maguire...

a retro disco song plays at an engagement party
(Best of my Love by The Emotions!),
and the soon-to-be-wed lovers enjoy a beer,
get to chill out with friends and family,
UNTIL...

"this message will self-destruct in 5 seconds"
starts off the action, and what action it is!
From the hallowed halls of the Vatican
to the exotic streets of Shanghai,
it's non-stop all the way for the next 120 minutes.

> but the driving force behind all the action
the McGuffin, if you will,
is Ethan Hunt trying to get back his wife.

from the moment Ving Rhames dispenses advice a la Cuba Gooding Jr.,
to the awkward teary-eyed wedding proposal,
an impromptu wedding followed by desperate lovemaking,
the tense stretches where Agent Hunt loses his love
and runs around madly to get her back,
and right up to the extremely happy ending,

M:i:III is "you had me at hello" all the way!!!
