FOOD FIGHT: ang kuwento ng mga CRABloggers at ang mga Haka-Haka ng Utak TALANGKA
Yesterday, Sunday morning, Margaux Salcedo
shook the Pinoy Food Blogging community awake
with this piece from the Sunday Inquirer magazine:
Naturally,
since Margaux's article was essentially
a foodie version of a Ricky Lo blind item,
the bloggers, gregarious by nature,
just had to guess who her "Big Bad Blogger" was,
and most assumed that BBB slyly referred to
was the most popular food blogger in the country,
my kumpare, Anton Diaz of OAP, Our Awesome Planet.
What followed on the discussion boards on
Facebook, Twitter, Plurk, and on the more popular blogs,
was nothing short of an embarrassment for our blogging community.
So many people, without any evidence, just got on the bandwagon,
and like brainless viruses, infected and inflicted my friend
with all sorts of allegations and even some very
pompous "I told you so" statements.
It's all a matter of taste.
And this whole brouhaha now reeks of bad taste:
Margaux's article cast aspersions and doubts
practically on every popular blogger;
her article, ripe with "MAYBE"s and assumptions and hypotheses,
would have better served the Pinoy Blogosphere
if she had just named names.
And so the guessing game continued,
all the while, hurting innocent people by innuendo.
Carlos Celdran, in his inimitable manner, did the right thing,
and asked the blunt question on everyone's mind,
and our Awesome Anton,
often the "usual suspect" in these blind items,
quietly, maturely, simply stated that he's not BBB and moved on.
And unless we have proof, or until Margaux names names,
the curious bloggers (and readers) should all do the same.

I so agree. I've been following Anton for quite some time now and never did it occur to me that he'll even be considered to be the BBB.
Anyway, it's just crazy that the whole blogosphere is talking about that article. I did learn something from all the discussions, but the guessing game is what I hate most about this.
I hope we can all move on and be better bloggers.
saw the article yesterday and i too didn't think that it was Anton as he discloses his activities.
aba siyempre i de deny ni anton yun.meron ba naman may kasalanan ang umamin? sige nga. yung mga unang years niya mukha namang authentic yung mga posts niya pero this late napaka commercialized na lahat ng posts at hindi masarap ang food na recommended niya. halatang bayaran. yun na
anonymous,
i'd consider your views more
if you didn't do a margaux
and hide behind a cloak of
anonymity. no need to be shy!
Spanx, i'm 100% sure its not Anton.
Anonymous, if you read OAP carefully, you will see that Anton makes disclosures at the bottom of each post, i.e. if he is related to the owner, etc etc.
just like what spanky posted, food is subjective, and you have to be totally mental if you expect your taste buds to be completely in sync with Anton's, or any food blogger's, for that matter.
mabuhay ka spanx! i hope hindi nga si anton. madami talaga utak talangka dahil sa success nya. he is not perfect. pero marami lang sigurong inggit. i hope ms. salcedo names names or at least tell that it is not oap. kung hindi nga sya. kawawa na kasi. bugbog na.
p.s. bihira ka na mag-blog. anyway, dami nga matatapang . . . hehehe
di ko alam kung si anton nga yun o hindi pero its a fact that the reviews in OAP is so much over rated kahit dati pa.. may natikman ako na di okay at di worth it sobra dun sa review niya sa lugang cafe.. well see.. hope margaux reveals the true identity of the person. Open your eyes and face reality..
Anonymous, if you have proof na si Anton please let us know. You can't put a good man down.
@spanx lets say for example: kung ikaw gumagawa ng extortion tas pinagbintangan ka aaminin mo? sasabihin mong oo ginawa ko yun? Nah.. i dont think so.. even carlos celdran is stupid enough to ask the question directly.. Im sure kahit sino pa yun sasabihin "siyempre hindi :)" lalo na its a big issue in the blogging world and other good bloggers will kill bbb.
like i mentioned in my other post.. im not saying its anton BUT i just want to make a point that his reviews in oap are always way way off.. =\
anonymous,
like i said, food blogging,
at best, is subjective.
i myself don't agree with
half of anton's opinions.
(i use OAP as a map to the
new restaurants, not as a
gourmet guidebook)
so, i also think some of
his reviews are way off.
does that mean anton's for sale?
of course not.
maybe yes or maybe no i wont assume anything .. well know the truth once the evidence/people are revealed.. hope bbb will be revealed.. It will be a big help to the community.
Anonymous,
you sound mighty confused yourself switching from one stance to another.:-) also, in my opinion, what Carlos Celdran (asking directly) did wasn't stupid but cuts through the chase no? i think that Anton was top of mind as BBB because he IS (at least to my mind) the biggest food blogger here so he's there, by default. is it unfair? yes. is it conclusive? no. i'll still read OAP though because it is at the minimum, very informative on what's new out there which is important with attention-deficit folks (when it comes to food)like me.
Spanx,
please ask your pareng Anton Diaz what is his "relationship" with PR firm Geiser-Maclang :)
Maclang nanaman ang involved? OMG!
