The Most HAIR-RAISING Book I've Ever Read...

CHUCK PALAHNIUK
is my new favorite author.

He's the author of "Fight Club",
which, under Director David Fincher's dark guidance,
became as great a movie as it was a novel.

The Talented Mr. Palahniuk
may be classified as a writer of modern
(make that post-modern) horror, and
some may even compare him with Stephen King,

but King never wrote with this much muscle,
sheer storytelling exuberance,

with such undigestible horrific details,
and a surprising dose of (very, very) dark humor.

I dare you to read the first story in HAUNTED,
a twisted little tale called
"GUTS",

without at least once wincing,
react with a massive unbelieving WTF??!?!?,
slam the book violently shut,
and try to throw it as far away as possible...

then gingerly pick it up again,
and eagerly finish a quite visceral story
that stays true to its title,

and actually makes the reader's guts move...

GUTS has actually made people faint,
and that warning on the book cover is not a joke;

Chuck Palahniuk
may scare you, anger you,
and even physically sicken you,

but as any great writer will do,
he will COMPEL you to keep reading.

from Amazon.com:

Haunted is a novel made up of twenty-three
horrifying, hilarious, and stomach-churning stories.

They’re told by people who have answered an ad
for a writer’s retreat
and unwittingly joined a “Survivor”-like scenario
where the host withholds heat, power, and food.

As the storytellers grow more desperate,
their tales become more extreme,
and they ruthlessly plot to make themselves
the hero of the reality show that will
surely be made from their plight.

This is one of the most disturbing
and outrageous books you’ll ever read,
one that could only come from the mind of Chuck Palahniuk.
