LORI comes first . com
My vote for the Best Pinoy Blog goes to:
Lori's DESSERT COMES FIRST
It's has the best prose;
often, Lori's posts wax poetic
about all kinds of food, specially desserts calorific.
Here's her take on brownies:
"The tiny chunks are constant whispers of chocolate
lingering on the tongue,
echoing in the heart.
Chocolate builds upon chocolate,
radiating flavor by clinging to the batter
in dark, delicious spots.
Of course you must serve your brownies
in looming, substantial pieces,
brash and bold,
perfect plate-mates with ice cream
all too ready to surrender to the summer heat."
It has the best photographs;
so good, you're almost tempted to lick your screen,
giving a whole new meaning to the term "food porn".
Lori would give any ad agency's food stylist stiff competition.
It has the best site design;
just like the best home kitchens,
it's clean, functional, warm, friendly,
and chockfull of goodies.
The kind of kitchen you'd love to linger in.
And,best of all,
it makes you want to try and taste all that she writes about,
creating cravings that make you want to gladly lose control.
Definitely not recommended for late night reading,
as you may end up eating white sugar by the spoonful
just to soothe that sweet tooth.
In a word,
her blog is INFLUENTIAL.
So much so that after reading "Dessert Comes First" yesterday,
I just had to find an excuse
to go to Megamall this afternoon
just to try the Coffee Buns of Roti Mum.
And I even made sure to put them in the backseat of my car,
just like Lori did, letting the "pleasant coffee aroma permeate".
And when I lost control and bit into the
feather light but surprisingly substantial buns,
crumbs on my barong and slacks notwithstanding,
It was love at first bite.

I hope you can try the roti in Michelle's Bakeshop at SM San Fernando or in SM Clark and compare it with the one you just blogged about.
