RAPE and MAGIC

It's difficult to blog about Food or Films
when your nation has just survived an attempted RAPE.

The suspects may have pulled up their zippers for now,
but they're definitely still on the loose,
and biding their time,
waiting for the perfect opportunity,
should our country let its guard down again.

It's best to remain vigilant still.


Rape is not a sexual crime;
it's a perverted abuse of power.


Let's prove to those maladjusted psychopaths
in the House of Rape-resentatives
that their preferred victims are empowered too.



The past 20 years may have made us jaded.

Perhaps,
the words "PEOPLE POWER" don't have the charms
they once had,

but I believe that the power still exists;
it's been hidden,
but it's definitely still there.

If used judiciously and in a timely manner,
Pinoys can bring back the magic.




This morning, I was fortunate enough to attend
WATCH and PRAY:
Magmalasakit para sa Bayan,
a meeting for this Sunday's Prayer Rally at the Luneta.

Organized by the MAPSA,
the Manila Archdiocesan & Parochial Schools Association,

the venue was filled to the rafters
with Bishops, Priests, and Nuns,
leaders of practically all the Catholic Schools,
Colleges, and Universities in MetroManila,

all soberly and intelligently discussing the conduct
of this Sunday's massive event.


It's going to be a gathering for prayer;

prayers for strength,
prayers for courage,
prayers for wisdom,

but mostly,
prayers of thanksgiving.


And for the first time in Philippine History,

the Catholic Church,
the Iglesia ni Cristo,
the Jesus Is Lord Movement,
the El Shaddai,
and our Muslim brethren,

will all join hands in prayer in historic Luneta.

MAGIC INDEED!
