of manipulating and plotting with the Judicial & Bar Council
to deny her a seat in the country's highest court.

Miriam is just true to herself when she ranted and cursed the men in robe in the highest. But I always voted for her in the past. She has the guts to speak out yet in very colorful language. There's not a dull moment when Miriam speaks. At least, you'll not get bored being at the Senate looking at the no speaking line action stars.
Naisip ko, I think GMA will have a good DND Secretary in Miriam. She's a civilian, legally minded and was a former cabinet member before. Those of you who will say that she might initiate a coup to place herself at the helm of the government and get back at the SC justices by spitting at them, it's just a figment of your imagination.

Totoo bang sinabi ni Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago (MDS) ang mga nakalathala? Baka naman na-enhanced lang boses niya para pasamain siya. Hindi ko kasi napanood.
Sa totoo lang, kung sinunod ang patakaran ng JBC na ang mga nominado bilang Chief Justice (CJ) ay haharap sa panel of interviewers, si MDS na sana ang CJ. Diskwalipikado yong iba dahil natakot silang humarap, kesyo hindi naman daw obligado silang magpa-interview. Mababaw na katuwiran bilang mararangal na mahistrado. Kung nangyari yon, no choice si GMA kundi nombrahan si MDS.
Pero bakit naiba ang patakaran? Sa aking hinuha, nag-second thought din si GMA kaya parang nabigyan ng go-signal ang JBC na isantabi ang interview policy. Siguro’y naisip din ni GMA at ng kanyang mga alipores na baka hindi niya rin pwedeng hawakan si MDS dahil iba na ang kapasidad nito. Magaling sa batas, may sariling paninindigan. Bilang senador, sisiw lang siya sa paningin ni GMA, pero bilang CJ, pareho na silang impeachment lang ang pwedeng magpaiksi ng termino.
Nabasa natin ang ponencia ni Mahistrado Antonio Carpio in rejecting the People’s Initiative petition. Grabe ang lenguaheng ginamit doon, grand deception, etc. Pero wala itong binatbat kung ang pagbabasehan natin ay mga katagang binibitiwan ni MDS simula pa noong unang manungkulan siya bilang Immigration Commissioner, presidential candidate at bilang senador. Very colorful wika nga ang kanyang mga kataga. At ang duda ko, kung itong CON-ASS halimbawa ay dumating sa Korte Suprema, hindi ito papasa kay MDS. At kung siya ang gagawa ng ponencia, it will surely enrich the jurisprudence in terms of complex words delivered like a venomous spit. Para kong nakikita ang luhaang mukha nina GMA and JDV and the cha-cha dancers. Akala nila’y kakampi si MDS, hindi pala.

i campaigned and voted for Miriam back in 1992.
too bad, i feel she never fully recovered from that narrow loss to FVR. remember, she was leading in the Quick Count for the first returns?
and sadly, i believe she's gone on a downward spiral since then, fighting more for herself rather than the country.
and yes, she did sink to a new low and did say all those words, as repeated ad nauseum on all the TV channel news last night.
