Excellent Soundtrack : BRIDGET JONES, The Edge of Reason

recovered from my old blog in multiply.com~~
dateline: 6/6/06 (!!!)

benefits of staying home sick on a Friday night?
finally watched Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason on HBO.

the movie itself is just okay,
a standard Colin Firth/Hugh Grant comedy
a couple of notches below Love Actually.

British accents make any romantic comedy classier
than they actually are,
compared to the generic chickflick fare Hollywood churns out.

watch this movie for Renee Zellwegger's added poundage.
she must have packed on over 30 pounds for this sequel.
she's like the female version of De Niro in Raging Bull!!!
talk about Method Acting......

but the real deal about this movie is the soundtrack......
Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason
is a perfect example of how the soundtrack
makes a movie better than it really is
.

Here's the evidence:

Mary J. Blige's cover of Elton John's
"Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word"
is sooo damn good.

Carly Simon's "Nobody Does It Better",
arguably the best 007 song ever (from The Spy Who Loved Me).

Sting remaking his own "We'll Be Together",
in a duet with Annie Lennox!!!

1970s Classics:
"I'm Not In Love" by 10cc
and Minnie Ripperton's "Loving You".

Joss Stone and Beyonce with their best songs,
"Super Duper Love" and "Crazy in Love", respectively.

and excellent remakes of "Stop", "Everlasting Love",
and Sade's "Your Love is King".

I'm giving the soundtrack my highest rating:
I'll buy the Original CD in Tower Records or Music One!!!!
