Use your text finger to give 'em the MAIERHOFER SALUTE!!!

The Speaker of the House
is once again floating the idea
of imposing a TAX on TEXT messaging.

His regurgitated idea now has a motherhood and apple pie spin:
the tax will go to *ahem!* "Healthcare and Education"...
(insert plaintive violin music here)

YEAH, RIGHT!!!

"Relax, Mr. Speaker, panalo na ang Blue Eagles natin! Congrats!"

According to Business World,
Filipinos send an average of 600 MILLION text messages daily.

And that's a conservative estimate,
based on the assumption that the 60 million or so
cellphone-toting Pinoys send each other
a measly 10 text messages per day average.

Cong. Prospero Nograles is proposing that
a 20 Centavo tax be levied on EACH text message.

Do the math:
assuming each and every P1.00 text has a P0.20 tax,

P600,000,000 x 20%
= P120,000,000.00

ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY MILLION PESOS.

DAILY.

That's an additional
THREE point SIX BILLION pesos
every single month...

to the coffers of this lame-duck government
that hasn't even uttered a quack about where
all the BILLIONS of PESOS from the VAT on FUEL
have gone... definitely not back to the Filipinos.

It hurts me to say it,
but some ATENEANS truly deserve the
One-Finger MAIERHOFER SALUTE!!!
