no doubt a very talented girl and i wish her all the best. but all that crying and drama is too much for me. reminds me of our local telenovelas too much.
>>> kiko,
all that crying and drama
is integral to our long-suffering national Filipino Soul ",)
kayanin na lang natin. hahaha!
p.s.
besides, this was on OPRAH,
where crying and drama
are also part of the collective
expectation of her audience!
The problem I have with charice isn't her talent, i really like her voice. (Check out a youtube of her singing Torete while playing the guitar, it's quite good) it's the way she brings herself during interviews especially in english/foreign shows. (though something about her interviews in local shows also irritate me as well)
I can't exactly pinpoint it but I think it's a combination of over acting and pa-cute speaking.
I must admit that I cried over several parts. I didn't know her past was so troubled.
Thanks for the heads up about the airing of the Celine Dion duet. Will be online on YouTube to watch out for uploaded videos before they get taken down.
Mike,
It's very obvious Charice in her interviews has left more to be desired to make it appear as more acceptable specially to international audiences.
But there is no point of getting irritated at it. Besides, this can be learned as she grow-up and some resources are now feasible to address her seeming limitation.
It just reflects how poorly she was trained in school which was a result of her extremely-deprived upbringing.
Very seldom you can pluck a high-school student from a public school somewhere in a province and give you a magnificent display of pose and wit during interviews.
