AUGUST 21, 1983

25 Years on,

we have a President who seems hellbent on
perpetuating herself in power forever;

we have a bloody war in Mindanao;

we have a rubber stamp Congress;

we have corruption in all levels;

we have police checkpoints;

we have an oil price crisis;

what has changed?

Was it worth dying for?

A quarter of a century ago,
his sacrifice reminded us
that our nation isn't hopeless;

hopelessly crazy, perhaps,
but definitely not hopeless.

It may take another 25 years,
but thanks to Ninoy,
I'm never giving up hope.
