It's the Year of the Walastik!!!

The phenomenal success of the APO Tribute CD,
Kami nAPO Muna
(now available in a limited edition 2-CD set,
the 2nd disc with all the original remastered
APO songs in the same sequence as the covers),
has spawned two more 1970s resurrections:

1. HOTSILOG
a Hotdog Tribute from ABS-CBN's ASAP Artists:

The CD features Gary V singing MANILA, which is good....

but other covers by Jed Madela, Sarah Geronimo, Sam Milby,
and Toni Gonzaga, who all make me cringe and roll my eyeballs,
has turned me off this album.

At P295 a pop,
it's obvious that this is another opportunistic Kapamilya moneygrab.


2. VST & Co. COLLECTION : BOSSANOVA

now this is the real find!!

I just recently told Mr. Retro over at
http://nostalgiamanila.blogspot.com/
that I wished that a Tribute CD to my tocayo Spanky Rigor,
and the rest of the VST Co. would be produced soon.

Lo and Behold,
it's here!

and it's not just any tribute,
it's a bossanova tribute to boot.

while it seems that every other CD you see
in O, Tower, or Music One seems to be a Sitti knockoff,
this VST & Co. Collection stands out
for the sheer simplicity and genius of the concept:
